Service Engineer - Mine Hoist Systems

About the role

ABB's Hoisting Service Team in Merida, Yucatan, is looking for a Service Engineer who will work on-site on mine hoist systems. The engineer executes service work, learns the complete hoisting system including mechanics and hydraulics, with a focus on the electrical powertrain and controls. The role reports to the Operations Manager and is the main point of contact for technical matters after system start-up.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the maintenance program for hoist systems and provide on-site or remote technical support for installation, commissioning and routine maintenance.
• Identify technical problems, analyse them remotely or on site, and consult customers on service solutions that follow standard processes and safety guidelines.
• Inspect and audit hoisting systems to ensure safe and proper operation.
• Troubleshoot complex equipment failures, identify potential failures and recommend corrective actions.
• Report work done in a timely manner and follow up when needed.
• Suggest improvements to products, quality and customer service and discuss them with management.
• Provide hands-on support at customer sites and require travel.

Required profile

• Minimum of 5 years of related experience with industrial systems; mine hoist systems knowledge is a definite asset.
• Bachelor's degree.
• Excellent English, including writing reports and speaking to customers and colleagues.
• Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary service environment, often under pressure, and to travel.
