Software Engineer II (Python) – Mexico City

About the role

Elsevier is looking for a collaborative Software Engineer II with strong Python expertise to join the Shadow Health development team in Mexico City. You will help build and enhance web services that power immersive digital experiences for healthcare education.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the Tech Lead to solve moderate‑complexity engineering problems.
• Design, develop, and improve features for the Learning Management System.
• Review peer code and provide constructive feedback.
• Address simple bug fixes and maintain code quality.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure high‑quality delivery.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• 3+ years of software engineering experience.
• 3+ years of Python web development.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
• Experience with Ruby web development is a plus.
• Proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript, NodeJS, React, and SQL.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies and test‑driven development.
• Daily use of industry best practices such as code coverage.
