Sommelier – Fine Dining Wine & Sake Specialist

About the role

As a Sommelier at Zuma, you will lead the wine and sake program, curating selections that complement the contemporary Japanese menu and elevate the guest experience. You will work closely with the culinary team and front‑of‑house staff to ensure seamless service and drive beverage sales.

Key responsibilities

• Assist guests in selecting wines and sake, providing personalized recommendations based on preferences, budget, and food choices.
• Conduct weekly inventory assessments to maintain accurate stock levels.
• Collaborate with chefs to develop wine‑pairing suggestions and promote beverage sales.
• Oversee wine service standards, ensuring proper storage, handling, and presentation.
• Train and coach staff on wine and sake knowledge, tasting techniques, and service etiquette.
• Support overall restaurant operations by assisting on the floor, clearing tables, and running food and drinks as needed.

Required profile

• A genuine passion for culinary experiences and Japanese cuisine.
• Team‑player attitude with strong customer‑focused mindset.
• Certified Sommelier or higher certification preferred.
• Proven experience as a Sommelier in a fine‑dining or upscale restaurant.
• Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends.
