Tech Lead — Users & Auth (Hybrid)

About the role

Clara, a payment platform for companies in Latin America, is looking for a Tech Lead for its Users & Auth team, which covers authentication, authorization, identity and access control. It is a hands-on Builder role, not people management: you lead by building, through your PRs, architecture docs and reviews. The position is hybrid, with time split between the office, customers and home.

Key responsibilities

• Own architecture and system design in your domain: tech stack, API contracts, data models and infrastructure, while staying hands-on writing code
• Own the team's execution rhythm: sprint planning, standups, backlog grooming, retros, and accountability for PR cycle time, deploy frequency and WIP
• Set engineering excellence: code review standards, test coverage and technical debt management
• Unblock the team daily through code reviews, design reviews, pairing and debugging
• Review product specs from a technical angle, flag feasibility gaps and identify where AI tooling can reduce engineering effort
• Own system health for the services you own: security, scalability, performance and availability

Required profile

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, with a track record as the senior technical voice on a team (Staff+ level)
• A hands-on builder who sets the standard through their own PRs, architecture docs and reviews
• Strong product sense and ability to work closely with product partners
• Fluent English, able to lead technical discussions across geographies

Required skills

• Full-stack engineering, with strength on the backend; Java and Spring on the backend and React on the frontend are used, and depth in them is a plus
• Strong architecture and system-design judgment in a complex domain
• Working knowledge of auth, identity and security best practices; Auth0 exposure is a plus
• AI-native engineering approach
