Tool Engineering Intern

About the role

GE Aerospace is looking for a motivated Tool Engineering Intern to join the Assembly and Testing team. You will support the design and development of special tooling used to assemble, disassemble, test, and transport commercial aviation engines and components.

Key responsibilities

• Design, improve, or redesign special tooling according to GE Aviation standards.
• Collaborate with global stakeholders, including assembly shops and engine hardware engineers, to gather requirements.
• Perform engineering analyses, including hand calculations and simple stress assessments.
• Ensure tooling program schedules are met and document design decisions.
• Support project management activities such as scheduling meetings and tracking progress.

Required profile

• Enrolled in Mechanical, Materials, or Mechatronic Engineering program.
• At least six months remaining before graduation.
• Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
• Ability to analyze problems, document solutions, and work within a team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD tools (Unigraphics/Vismockup).
• Basic stress analysis and hand‑calculation techniques.
• Awareness of conventional manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with mechanical design, strength of materials, and mechanisms.
• Preferable experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
• Project‑management and scheduling capabilities.
