About the role
Mastercard is seeking a Vice President to lead its Government Affairs and Policy function across the North Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region. Reporting to divisional leadership, you will shape public policy, regulatory strategy, and government engagement for Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute advocacy strategies on payments regulation, digital commerce, real‑time payments, open finance, cybersecurity, data governance, competition policy, and financial inclusion.
- Engage with governments, central banks, regulators, legislators, and industry stakeholders to advance Mastercard’s positions.
- Collaborate with Product, Franchise, Public Sector, Legal, Communications, and other business teams to create a favorable policy environment.
- Lead, mentor, and grow the North Division Government Affairs & Policy team, ensuring alignment with regional and global priorities.
- Provide trusted counsel to senior leadership on policy risks and opportunities affecting the business.
Required profile
- Minimum 5 years of experience in public policy, legislative, or government affairs within a corporate, association, or governmental setting, preferably in payments or financial services.
- Deep knowledge of legislative and regulatory processes, including rulemaking, in key LAC markets.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish.
- Strong judgment, creative problem‑solving, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Appreciation for diverse cultural approaches to business, especially in Mexico and Central America.
