Project Engineer – Manufacturing & CAPEX Projects

About the role

We are looking for a Project Engineer to lead manufacturing projects from planning through completion. You will ensure projects stay within approved CAPEX budgets, meet timelines, and adhere to quality, safety, and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Define project scope, create schedules, allocate resources, track budgets, document progress and close projects.
• Monitor CAPEX expenses, purchase orders and provide regular updates to the Engineering Coordinator.
• Conduct site walkthroughs to verify progress, identify deviations, safety risks and implement corrective actions.
• Design and optimise plant layouts using CAD tools to improve workflow and material flow.
• Develop technical specifications, manage supplier quotations, evaluations, purchasing and deliveries.
• Identify and mitigate project risks related to safety, quality, cost and schedule.
• Coordinate activities with Maintenance, Production, Quality, Safety, Procurement, suppliers and contractors.
• Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives such as 5S, Kaizen, VSM and SMED.
• Participate in equipment installation, validation, FAT/SAT testing, documentation and operator training.
• Analyse process or material issues and follow up on non‑conformities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Mechatronic, Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years experience in Project Engineering, Process Engineering or Continuous Improvement within a manufacturing environment.
• 2+ years managing CAPEX projects with budget control and project close‑out.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar).
• Lean Manufacturing methodologies (5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, SMED).
• Project management tools (Gantt charts, budget tracking, risk assessment).
• Knowledge of safety and quality standards (ISO, OHSAS).
