Additive Manufacturing Design Engineer

About the role

As an Additive Manufacturing Design Engineer you will be responsible for the complete design of sand molds and cores for centrifugal pump castings using the ExOne S‑Max binder‑jet printer. You will collaborate with internal foundry teams and external partners, run solidification simulations, and continuously improve casting yield and quality.

Key responsibilities

• Prioritize and complete job orders from the engineering dispatch list within quoted time frames.
• Design 3D sand molds and cores for binder‑jet additive manufacturing on the ExOne S‑Max platform.
• Generate detailed design sheets for each mold and core package to support metal pouring and assembly.
• Calculate and design feeding and gating systems before casting simulation and 3D printing.
• Perform casting solidification simulations to ensure castability and minimize defects.
• Collect process feedback from foundry partners to improve yield and refine simulation parameters.
• Optimize mold and core designs to maximize printer job‑box volume and reduce print costs.
• Address internal and external NCMRs by updating 3D models to maintain product quality.
• Assist the Process Engineer with print job preparation, machine start‑up, routine maintenance, and laboratory test analysis.
• Research and expand the supplier base for raw materials such as silica sand, resins, activators, and cleaners.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, Materials Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in foundry processes, preferably in fusion or foundry engineering.
• Native Spanish speaker with intermediate written and spoken English.
