Business Development Manager – Retail & Travel

About the role

Develop and grow Mastercard's business with leading companies across the Retail, Travel and other industries. Position Mastercard as the trusted strategic partner for key merchants and industry leaders, building executive‑level relationships and driving commercialization of solutions such as co‑brand programs, digital and loyalty services.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, develop and convert new business opportunities within Retail, Travel and other sectors.
• Lead customer growth initiatives, including portfolio expansion, acquisition campaigns, product launches and emerging payment technology implementations.
• Build compelling value propositions and executive presentations to acquire strategic merchant partners.
• Originate, negotiate and execute commercial partnerships that deliver mutual business growth.
• Develop business cases and financial models to evaluate opportunities and support decision‑making.
• Partner with internal Product, Marketing, Services, Finance and Digital Payments teams to create winning solutions.
• Manage complex projects and stakeholder groups to deliver measurable business outcomes.
• Monitor industry trends, competitive developments and emerging opportunities.

Required profile

• Experience in payments, financial services, retail, travel or loyalty industries.
• Proven track record in business development, account management or strategic partnerships.
• Strong relationship‑management skills with senior merchant stakeholders.
• Ability to lead and influence cross‑functional teams in a matrix organization.
• Strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen and experience developing business cases.
• Fluent in English and Spanish; bachelor's degree required, MBA a plus.
