Commodity Manager

About the role

Nidec Mexico Shared Services is looking for a Commodity Manager, a mid-level management role that leads commodity management strategy and execution to support cost competitiveness, supply continuity, quality and risk mitigation. The role manages commodity professionals and/or supplier portfolios and acts as the strategic owner for assigned commodities across sourcing, contracting and supplier performance. It reports to a Director of Procurement, Supply Chain Leader or Strategic Sourcing Leader.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop Commodity Managers, Buyers or Sourcing Specialists, set performance expectations and run performance reviews
• Develop and execute commodity strategies, analyze market trends and capacity, define sourcing approaches and supplier segmentation, and drive competitive sourcing, negotiation and contracting
• Own supplier relationships, monitor supplier performance and lead business reviews and corrective action plans
• Drive cost reduction, negotiate pricing and terms, and identify and mitigate supply, geopolitical and market risks
• Partner with Engineering, Operations, Quality and Finance on design-to-cost, supply continuity, budgets and forecasts
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, standardize sourcing processes and track KPIs

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Finance or a related field
• Prior experience in procurement, strategic sourcing or commodity management
• Previous people-management experience preferred
• Typically 5 years of prior relevant experience
