Trade Compliance Specialist (HTS/ECN Classifications)

About the role

Jabil is hiring a Trade Compliance Specialist in Guadalajara. The role covers EU HTS (Harmonized Tariff System) and EU dual-use / export control number (ECN) classifications of Jabil products and services, and shares information on import duties and licence requirements with Jabil's European sites, business units, logistics teams and customs brokers. It also includes internal classification audits and training.

Key responsibilities

• Define HTS and ECN classification of finished goods, raw materials and other products.
• Manage, sort, partition, enter, extract or add import/export data items into and out of the SAP/GTS (Global Trade Services) database, or into and out of Excel spreadsheets or other databases as required.
• Research part and product technical characteristics from other Jabil departments, customer or vendor websites and other sources to support IM/EX classifications.
• Support the Regional and Global Trade Compliance team with audits, reporting and other regulatory trade compliance work.
• Carry out internal training on HTS or ECN classification topics.
• Take part in classification audits and projects.
• Help prepare, submit and report on licence applications, binding rulings, BTIs and communications with authorities.
• Interpret changes in HTS or ECN classification legislation and perform other foreign trade classification tasks.

Required profile

• Experience in a customs and classification environment.
• Bachelor's degree (essential).
• Strong communication skills in English and customer service capability.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, draw valid conclusions and handle non-standardised situations.
• Understanding of basic manufacturing processes, mainly in the EMS sector.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of the EU TARIC system and EU Dual Use Regulations (ECN).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and email.
• SAP and GTS (Global Trade Services) data handling.
