Senior DevOps / Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

Sphise is building its first DevOps group and seeks a senior engineer to lead the migration of development processes to a robust DevOps practice. The role focuses on supporting production PHP/JS/MySQL applications, preferably built with Laravel, and establishing reliable cloud infrastructure on AWS.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines that deliver builds and deployments during non‑business US hours.
• Create a true Infrastructure‑as‑Code environment using Terraform, Ansible or similar tools.
• Collaborate with development leadership to define optimal cloud architecture.
• Gather, clarify, and document technical requirements from the development team.
• Participate in production‑readiness meetings for every release.
• Automate DevOps functions, including source‑code integration, testing, topology configuration, deployment, and proactive monitoring.
• Develop and track a DevOps roadmap using agreed‑upon KPIs.
• Maintain test environments and ensure governance of the SaaS production environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Strong background supporting PHP‑based web applications, ideally Laravel.
• Extensive hands‑on experience with AWS services (EC2, Load Balancer, Ubuntu VMs, RDS MySQL, Elasticache Redis, Route 53).
• Proven expertise in Terraform and Ansible for infrastructure automation.
• Ability to lead initiatives in a fast‑paced environment and work closely with development teams.
