Special Project Manager – Hotel Capital Projects

About the role

We are seeking a Special Project Manager to lead capital projects, renovations and engineering initiatives across our luxury hotel. The role ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to brand standards while minimizing impact on guests.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organize and execute renovation, refurbishment and CAPEX projects.
• Develop detailed project schedules, budgets, scopes of work and implementation plans.
• Monitor project progress, identify risks, address delays and control budget variances.
• Ensure projects meet approved specifications, luxury brand standards and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate project close‑out, inspections, documentation and handover to operations.
• Partner with Director of Engineering to develop annual CAPEX plans and prioritize engineering improvements.
• Source, evaluate and supervise contractors, consultants, architects and suppliers; review proposals and contracts.
• Monitor contractor compliance with safety policies, work permits and quality of workmanship.
• Prepare project budgets, cost estimates and track expenditures against approved budgets.
• Review invoices, change orders and financial reports to identify cost‑saving opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with local building codes, fire safety, environmental legislation and company policies.
• Schedule construction activities to minimise operational disruptions and coordinate with hotel departments.
• Support energy‑efficiency initiatives and recommend sustainable construction practices.
• Prepare regular project status reports for senior leadership and present updates at engineering and executive committee meetings.
