Account Receivables Specialist

About the role

A fully remote Account Receivables Specialist is needed to handle incoming payments, reconcile bank and credit card accounts, follow up on outstanding commissions and support the sales team. The role sits within the travel industry and involves about 5% of time spent on collections. Standard hours are 9:00 AM–5:00 PM EST, with virtual training provided.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and record incoming payments, keeping backup and supporting documentation.
• Reconcile CAD and USD bank accounts and high-volume credit card and payment transactions daily, and reconcile supplier payments, bank deposits and other receivables activity.
• Investigate and resolve payment and receipt discrepancies with suppliers and the sales team, and occasionally follow up on outstanding commissions.
• Perform variance analysis and correct bookings when needed, and monitor outstanding commissions.
• Help the sales team with receipt and payment confirmations, prepare monthly reports and receivables updates, and assist with general financial management and analysis.
• Maintain up-to-date vendor and supplier contact details, report unresolved issues to management and help improve financial processes and systems.

Required profile

• At least 3 years of experience in accounts receivable, accounting support, travel sales support or a similar role.
• Must have experience with high-volume payment processing and credit card settlements, and with reconciling bank accounts and payment transactions.
• Experience with an ERP, accounting, POS or payment-processing system; travel industry experience preferred.
• Excellent written and spoken English, strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills, and comfort working independently remotely.

Required skills

• Strong Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUPs and large data sets.
• Preferred: ERP/TRES, ClientBase Online, Nuvei, RingCentral, Slack, and Trams.
