Automation Engineer – Manufacturing Process & Equipment

About the role
Siemens is seeking an Automation Engineer to drive innovative manufacturing solutions. You will collaborate with R&D, engineering, and product management to translate product specifications into efficient production processes.
Key responsibilities
- Analyze product specifications and clarify requirements with cross‑functional teams.
- Plan production layouts, machine configurations, and overall process sequences.
- Define process and equipment specifications together with internal engineers and external suppliers.
- Develop cost concepts, perform cost‑benefit and risk analyses, and prepare decision memos for management.
- Evaluate and approve hardware and software suppliers in partnership with Siemens Purchasing.
- Coordinate implementation of new production sequences with local Industrial Engineering teams.
- Support testing, pre‑series approval, and issue resolution with external providers.
- Design automation devices and ensure their integration into production systems.
- Manage relationships with integrator suppliers to guarantee successful automation deployments.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in manufacturing process planning and equipment specification.
- Proven experience designing automation devices and managing integrator suppliers.
- Strong knowledge of production layouts, process optimisation, and supplier evaluation.
- Experience in cost analysis and risk assessment for manufacturing projects.
- Fluent English communication skills.
