Buyer I

About the role

Jabil is hiring a Buyer I in Chihuahua. The buyer procures all components needed to support production or prototype builds, working on pricing, lead times, quality issues, delivery and inventory levels. The role sits within the supply chain and works closely with Commodity Managers and other buyers.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in decisions on MPS loading through proper materials sizing.
• Analyze, maintain and run the Materials Requirement Plan (MRP), monitoring the materials pipeline and fixing supply issues.
• Ensure materials are available for production and coordinate their movement from receiving to production.
• Track materials liability, clarify which items belong to the customer, and maximize negotiated supplier terms.
• Issue purchase orders according to negotiated pricing and terms, and make sure suppliers follow the agreements.
• Improve supplier delivery and quality performance, using corrective action tools for recurring or critical issues.
• Support Accounts Payable with invoice discrepancies and give input to commodity and pricing strategy.
• Minimize materials freight costs and follow safety, health and security policies.

Required profile

• Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, ratios and percentages, and to work with whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to communicate with managers, clients and customers and to read and understand visual aids.
• Ability to follow simple instructions and handle standardized situations.

Required skills

• Personal computer operation, including a Windows-based OS and related software.
• Advanced PC skills, including training and knowledge of Jabil's software packages.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
