Buyer / Procurement Specialist - Electromechanical Components

About the role

This Buyer / Procurement Specialist position is part of the local procurement team supporting the ELSP (Smart Power) business at ABB's site in Monterrey, Mexico. It focuses on tactical sourcing, supplier management, RFQ execution and cost optimisation. The role reports to the Category Manager and supports the implementation, maintenance and compliance of purchasing and logistics activities within the Procurement function, in line with ABB standards. Global relocation or LTA support is not considered.

Key responsibilities

• Execute purchasing and sourcing activities to support the business while optimising cost, quality and supplier performance.
• Support the development and execution of local sourcing initiatives aligned with business objectives and operational needs.
• Apply procurement standards, tools and processes to secure quality, delivery, cost and sustainability.
• Manage RFQs and supplier quotations, and take part in cost-reduction and savings projects.
• Take part in training and development initiatives to build sourcing, supplier management and negotiation skills.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree completed.
• 3-5 years of procurement or sourcing experience in a manufacturing environment; experience with electromechanical components or equipment is preferred.
• Experience managing national and international suppliers.
• Strong negotiation, contract management and analytical skills, including reviewing supplier quotations and cost data.
• Supplier development and evaluation experience.
• Advanced English proficiency.

Required skills

• Preferred: experience using SAP, MS Office and Power BI.
