Controller – Remote (Mexico based)

About the role

Strategic CFO is seeking an experienced Controller to join a nearshoring team that supports a U.S. client. The position is fully remote from Mexico, with quarterly travel to Houston, TX. The Controller will own month‑end close, financial reporting and internal control implementation under U.S. GAAP.

Key responsibilities

• Manage month‑end close and prepare financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Perform account and intercompany reconciliations.
• Develop and maintain cash‑flow, P&L and budgeting forecasts.
• Implement and monitor internal controls and accounting procedures.
• Collaborate with the client team and present findings via virtual meetings.
• Travel to the client’s site in Houston on a quarterly basis.

Required profile

• CPA, Contador Público or Chartered Accountant qualification.
• 10+ years of experience, including prior Controller or CFO roles.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and ability to work at all organizational levels.
• Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written).
• Valid U.S. passport and visa.
