Purchasing Coordinator

About the role

The Purchasing Coordinator supports the Supplier Schedulers (buyers) so that materials arrive on time at the JCI plant, keeps purchasing KPIs compliant and helps expedite direct materials to avoid stock-outs. The role may also cover quality escalations, ISO requirements, internal projects and engineering changes related to purchased items.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze MRP demand and replenish stocks, and analyze Clear to Build
• Make sure buyers place purchase orders on time and check open order reports for vendor issues
• Follow up with suppliers for confirmation dates and ETAs, and escalate past-due orders or missing confirmations
• Attend daily production meetings, run exception messages regularly and communicate risks and shortages to Planning and Production
• Escalate issues with Global Procurement or Regional Materials through the JIRA process and analyze lines of balance (LOB)
• Monitor vendor performance and on-time delivery, and review inventory, excess and obsolete items, including at the Customs Broker warehouse
• Monitor invoices in Maple, escalate credit holds, and handle ECN and new item (P1) approvals
• Take part in safety committees, audits, risk assessments, ISO audits and the EHS observation program, and follow JCI manufacturing systems, security and training policies

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or 5 years of experience in a purchasing or supply chain role
• Direct buyer experience in a manufacturing company (metal-mechanic, refrigeration, electronic or HVAC)
• Experience with Purchasing, Planning and Production areas
• Fluent English
• Proactive, able to work under pressure, with leadership, teamwork and communication skills
