Senior Buyer - Procurement

About the role

Johnson Controls is hiring a Senior Buyer for its procurement function, which covers advanced purchasing mainly for direct material categories and some indirect spend within the assigned Product Business Unit. The role works closely with the corporate Category Management team and focuses on sourcing, supplier management, contract negotiation and cost savings.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate sources of supply, develop pricing methodology and warranty/product requirements, and identify new suppliers and products
• Manage sourcing strategies and the full sourcing process (RFQs, change management, contract negotiations, disputes)
• Lead sourcing for new product introduction, including LTA agreements with year-over-year cost reductions
• Negotiate contracts and manage supplier performance, including supplier scorecards and periodic evaluations
• Negotiate payment terms and enroll suppliers in supply chain financing programs
• Analyze purchase price variance, track procurement metrics in Wave and other systems, and lead standard cost setting
• Process contracts within delegation of authority, expedite critical deliveries and support systems training and catalog maintenance

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree with at least 6 years of procurement experience, including strategy development, contract negotiation and commodity management
• Commercial awareness, negotiating skills and strong communication and project management abilities
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple responsibilities
• Travel of up to 20%

Required skills

• Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite
• Daily use of SAP; familiarity with SAP is desired
