Senior Procurement Manager - Chillers Product Business Unit

About the role

Johnson Controls is looking for a Senior Procurement Manager to lead a team of 6 buyers and drive growth and profitability for its Chillers Product Business Unit. The role reports to the Director of Procurement and sits within the PBU leadership team, in a business undergoing rapid expansion.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and develop new sourcing opportunities focused on business expansion and category growth
• Cultivate supplier innovation and continuous improvement within the team
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers
• Develop and coach a team of 6 buyers in a collaborative, results-oriented environment
• Define and execute strategic procurement initiatives optimizing spend within a budget of around 1 billion
• Provide end-to-end procurement support for new product introductions
• Negotiate pricing, terms and quality with critical suppliers
• Ensure team compliance with procurement processes and promote sustainable procurement practices
• Champion continuing education for the team and partner early with project, engineering and operations teams

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain or equivalent; an MBA is a plus
• Minimum 6-10 years of experience in a multinational organization
• Minimum 6 years in a strategic sourcing role, preferably direct materials
• Proven track record of leading and developing teams in a matrix environment
• Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to travel 10% globally and domestically
• Nice to have: project-based procurement or NPI experience, APAC exposure, and experience in procurement digitalization, process improvement or sustainability

Required skills

• Working knowledge of SAP or another ERP system
• Experience negotiating complex supply contracts
