Software Engineer – AI & Automation

About the role

Balsam Brands is seeking a Software Engineer to design and deliver AI‑powered workflows and internal automation tools. You will work remotely with cross‑functional teams, turning loosely defined business problems into concrete, production‑ready solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret ambiguous business needs and translate them into technical designs.
• Build, ship, and iterate on AI‑driven automations and internal tooling.
• Collaborate with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders to clarify requirements.
• Integrate AI capabilities such as Claude and ChatGPT into existing codebases.
• Maintain and enhance production‑grade agentic workflows and prompt pipelines.

Required profile

• Strong written and verbal communication in English (B2‑C1 level).
• Comfortable working with minimal supervision and thriving in ambiguous environments.
• Ability to ask clarifying questions and constructively push back on unclear requirements.
• Available to work during PST business hours (9 AM–5 PM).

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with AI tools such as Claude and ChatGPT (OpenAI API).
• Proficiency in at least one core stack: React, JavaScript, Java, or .NET.
• Experience integrating AI functionalities into existing applications.
• Familiarity with agentic workflows, prompt pipelines, or AI‑assisted tooling in production is a plus.
