Purchasing Officer

About the role

We are looking for a Purchasing Officer to join Metso’s Rubber Mexico team in Irapuato. The role supports the procurement process, ensuring timely supply of goods, services and equipment while maintaining strong vendor relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure HSE and quality management system compliance throughout procurement activities.
• Quote, compare alternatives and create purchase orders for required materials.
• Track purchase order progress, delivery and supplier payments.
• Onboard new vendors, maintain vendor files and enter new items into the ERP system.
• Promote environmental best practices and Science‑Based Targets among suppliers.
• Participate in HR, HSE and quality initiatives and occasional travel.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Administration, Business Management, Engineering or related field.
• Advanced level of English.
• Strong understanding of production processes, equipment and basic drawing interpretation.
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and multi‑tasking abilities.
• Self‑motivated with initiative to meet client needs.

Required skills

• Extensive experience with SAP.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Knowledge of INCOTERMS.
• Advanced English communication.
