Senior Indirect Buyer

About the role

ABB is hiring a Senior Indirect Buyer for its Monterrey 3.0 site in Mexico, contributing to the ELSP (Smart Power) business. The buyer manages the procurement of indirect materials and services so that the manufacturing facility runs smoothly, securing the right products and suppliers at the best value while ensuring timely delivery, compliance and operational continuity. The role is on-site, and global relocation or LTA support is not considered.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end procurement of indirect materials, MRO supplies, consumables, spare parts, tools, PPE and indirect services.
• Convert approved purchase requisitions into accurate, timely purchase orders in line with procurement procedures and policies.
• Monitor purchase orders and follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery and material availability.
• Negotiate pricing, commercial terms and agreements with suppliers while keeping good supplier relationships.
• Analyze quotations and supplier proposals to find the best overall value.
• Resolve delivery issues, shortages, discrepancies and service concerns with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Align purchasing with demand forecasts, stock levels and lead times to support inventory availability.
• Track supplier performance and contribute to continuous improvement in purchasing efficiency, service levels and cost.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, International Business or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, materials management or supply chain within a manufacturing environment.
• Extensive experience purchasing indirect materials, MRO supplies, consumables and services.
• APICS CPIM, CSCP, CPSM or similar supply chain certification.
• Advanced English communication skills.

Required skills

• Practical experience with ERP systems such as SAP, including purchase orders, inventory transactions, material planning and procurement reporting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Negotiation, supplier management and problem-solving.
• Stakeholder management and the ability to handle multiple requests at once.
